State Convention Ensemble
Each year, Waco sends a group of terrific students to the state convention to participate in the state-wide piano ensemble event. Top students from all around the state come together to present several different programs featuring selections by Texas and American composers. Lydia Bratcher is the Ensemble Chairman so direct any specific questions to her. All students interested in auditioning for an ensemble group will need to pass the state theory test (scoring 70 or above). It is strongly suggested that these students take the fall theory test, just in case they need another chance in the spring for a higher score.

Chairman: Lydia Bratcher
Entry Fee: $10.00 – State Participation Fee and Registration for all students chosen to play in an ensemble.
Requirements: All participating students must have passed the appropriate theory test. It is strongly recommended that students who plan to participate in ensembles take the Fall Theory Test.
Teachers, please make sure your students and their parents understand all that is required of the student upon being accepted into one of the three ensembles. There will be a minimum of six required rehearsals, usually on a Saturday morning, a costume, usually around $25, and a trip out of town to the state convention. Each student needs to have music thoroughly learned and prepared at auditions.
Auditions are in late February
Rehearsal dates and times will be announced by the conductors after the participants have been chosen.
