FALL FESTIVAL IS THIS WEEKEND!

Thanks to all teachers who entered students in the Fall Festival. I have received a record low number of schedule changes - must be due to the expert scheduling skills of co-chair Doyce Edwards! Thank you for your consideration in this area, as it is a very busy time.

Our judges this year are Dr. Thelma Cooper, Mrs. Jane Abbott-Kirk, and Dr. Jim Williams. These fine teachers are long-time members of WMTA, and we appreciate their time and judging expertise as they listen to our students.

The Fall Festival sheets will be available at MCC shortly after the conclusion of the festival. To those who work the early shift: please contact me and I will arrange to drop them by or take them home with me for you to pick up.

The recitals will be in Recital Hall II at 2:00 and 3:30. Some teachers indicated a preferred recital, but many did not list a preference. If you do have one, please contact Lydia Bratcher before Saturday, November 8.

Teachers, please refer to your mailing for reminders of the Fall Festival procedures and of your specific responsibilities. Please arrive a few minutes before your shift begins to ensure a smooth transition.

With appreciation,

Lydia Bratcher and Doyce Edwards, Fall Festival Co-Chairs

Ensemble News

The Convention Ensembles from Waco will be performing exciting selections at the TMTA Convention in June, 2009! Mary Bashara, director of the elementary ensemble, has chosen "Petite Spanish Dance" by Carolyn Miller. The Junior High group, directed by Becky Ward, will perform the Liszt "Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2," arranged by Melody Bober. The High School ensemble, directed by Lydia Bratcher, will be playing Aram Khachaturian's "Waltz" from Masquerade. And this year we will have a Young Artist Ensemble, directed by Dr. Lesley Sisterhen McAllister. They will perform David Karp's "Prairie Fire." The elementary, junior high, and high school selections are in at Waco Piano, and the Young Artist selection will be available soon.
